THE WALK

Official Grade: Moderate. Although the original distance was 9 miles, there is a diversion around Warland Reservoir which adds 1.5 to 1.75 miles to the walk. Generally flat with some undulations and one steep climb of about 600 yards. This walk includes field tracks, lane walking, undulating country tracks, asteep climb up the Roman road passing the White Houseand then around the reservoirs and descending along stony tracks and lanes to the Rochdale Canal and along the towpath back to Littleborough. Will be muddy in parts after rain. 10 to 12 stiles. 

DIRECTIONS

M602 from Eccles joining M60 for Leeds and then M62. Leave M62 at junction 21 signed for Milnrow. At final roundabout turn left marked A640 Milnrow and Hollingworth Lake. At nextset of lights turn right and then left at mini roundabout. Go up the hill and then bear left at pub and along this road to a mini roundabout where you turn right. Follow road passing the Lake down to 'T' junction where you turn left signed A6033 Todmorden. Keep in left hand lane and go through lights into Littleborough. At roundabout turn left signed for railway station. Turn immediately right at Wheatsheaf Public House. Proceed for 200 yards and turn left into car park. If full park on road.
