The walk is mainly on moorland with 2 climbs,the first on a steep set of steps tothe top of Blakeley Reservoir, the second is a steep climb up to Marsden Moor. We walk partsof the Pennine Way, Standedge Trail and the Marsden Heritage Trail.

Preffered route to M60/62 going east. Leave at J22 s.p. Ripponden/Sowerby Bridge. Turn right onto A672 s.p. Oldham, follow this through Henshaw heading to Delphon the A640. On entering Delph turn left onto the A62 Delph Lane then at the end of the road turn left towards Huddersfield, eventually reaching Marsden Town centre. Turn left at the s.p. for the station, follow this road turning left at the bottom of the road, the climbs to the station with the car park on the right s.p. Standedge Tunnel.
