This walk goes from Calver bridge through fields and woods by the side of the river Derwent, along a lane and through Baslow to enter Chatsworth Park, passing Chatsworth House. Through Edensor Village and along tracks and fields to reach Pilsley, Hassop and back to Calver Bridge along lanes, tracks, through woods and fields. Two steady but steepish ascents on a track and a road respectively, with one descent which requires some care. Good views all round, great view of Chatsworth House and lovely villages and scenery. Look out for unusual entrance gates to Chatsworth Estate and Edensor Village. We also pass the unusual 'Queen Mary's Bower'
Distance: appox 48 miles - approx 1 hour 15 mins
From Eccles take the M602 then M60 to Stockport. Exit jcn 1 (Pyramid) and follow signs for Town Centre then A6 Buxton. Go through Hazel Grove on A6, bearing left at Rising Sun pub. Continue through Disley and follow signs for Buxton. Keep on A6 passing Whaley Bridge etc to reach a roundabout signed A623 for Chesterfield. Turn left at roundabout and keep on A623 passing signs for Eyam and through Stoney Middleton to reach traffic lights at Calver. Go through traffic lights and after approximately half a mile cross a bridge with the Bridge Inn on your left. Turn left after Bridge Inn and park in lanes behind the Bridge Inn.
Please note: Parking is at Calver/Curbar not Baslow and as the area is popular parking may be tight and limited. Also at time of pioneering the A6 at Stockport Town Centre was closed and there were road works at Disley which could cause slight delay.
