Lancashire - Castleshaw Circular

THE WALK

Begins in Delph gradually climbing out on grassy paths crossing B6197 towards Pingle Lane. After ashort distance we cross B6052 and again uphill towards Dark Lane and New Barn. Continuing on in the direction of Castleshaw lower and upper reservoir then up again towards Millstone Edge where the climbing ends. The views over Castleshaw valley, Delph and surrounding hills are well worth the toil. This is also the Penine Way with the EDge on the left pasasing the Trig Point, then after a few yards adjacent to a large Cairn there are various plaques commemorating Ammon Wrigley the famous Saddleworth poet.

Route of your choice or:

M60/62 to junction 22, at the top of exit road turn rightA672. Follow this road looking for a junction of 5 roads and takethe second left (A6052). Follow this road until you reach a junction with the Bulls Head (free house) on your left. Bear round tothe right and travel through Delph to a cross roads with the MIllgate Centre facing, keep to the left of the Centre and the car park is on the left with the Co-operative Union Hall building (1864) to your right.

Toilets: Yes in Craft Centre/Shop on first floor. There is a signpost outside the Centre situated in Delph High Street.
